The Small Engines Team from South Warren High School's FFA program has earned its second consecutive state championship at the Kentucky State Fair. Last month, Konnor Mason, Connor Pendley, Chase Hodges, and Zane Hawkins participated in the Kentucky State Fair Small Power and Equipment Competition earning the Commonwealth's top honor!

Participants must possess an encyclopedic knowledge of many aspects in the small engine industry. Students compete in areas including "Part and Tool Identification and Operation," "Troubleshooting and Diagnostics,"  "Engine Repair Skills," and a general knowledge exam. Topics covered in the contest include 4-cycle theory, troubleshooting, mathematical calculations, word problems, skills-based scenarios, torquing, assembling, measuring, and adjusting.

The state competition encourages a focus on developing skills that will prepare students for careers in the following fields: agriculture, engineering, mechanics, automotive, technology, and sales. Congratulations to the South Warren FFA program for representing Warren County Public Schools.
