The Warren County Public Schools Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, sponsored by the WCPS Equity Council, is scheduled for Saturday, January 18th at 4:00 p.m. in the Warren Central High School Auditorium. The theme for the celebration is “Dream, Believe & Achieve.” Students will lead the ceremony honoring Dr. King while guests enjoy musical performances and a dramatic re-enactment by Darryl Van Leer. An art contest is being held for all WCPS middle and high school students, and the winning works of art will be displayed at the celebration. Likewise, an essay contest is taking place for WCPS high school students, and the district winners will read their essays during the celebration.
“The MLK Celebration is an opportunity for our students to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.," says Michele Tolbert, WCPS Equity Council Member and Human Resources Director. “These students will become our community leaders, and it is an honor for Warren County Schools to be a part of this positive change as we help educate and mold young minds by celebrating the legacy of Dr. King.”
